Smiles All Round at Licencing
It was smiles all round at the Licencing Service for Revd Jonathan Brewster and Revd Jane Maycock by Bishop James at St Paul’s, Grange-over-Sands, on Thursday evening 14th October.
At last our wait is over and we have a vicar for St Peter’s Field Broughton with Lindale.
The service at Grange was a special one. The churchwardens, with staves in hand to ward off the unruly or over-excited, processed down the aisle with the the two licencees, the Archdeacon and the Bishop. Many of the clergy who have helped, and will continue to help out on the Peninsula, were also in attendance. The whole community was involved in the welcome extended to Jonathan and Jane. At various positions in the church they were presented with: oil, bread and wine, Bible and Prayer Book as symbols of work to come in the parishes.
The photograph above was taken at the end of the service when the two vicars and the bishop open the doors of church – to represent the starting point of their ministry to us.
