On Sunday 30th January we hosted our first United Service. On the fifth Sunday the parishes of Field Broughton with Lindale, Staveley, Hatherthwaite, Finsthwaite and Grange will take it in turns to host the United Service. We held firm and did not weaken! Our service was at 9.30am as always! We were worried that this might put a few people off. We were also aware that rumour has that there is no parking at St Peters – but actually it is not such a problem (see front page of the website). We were delighted to welcome 50 worshippers to swell the congregation. It was such a pleasure to have the church feel full. The singing was hearty and really took advantage of the wonderful organ playing – a big ‘thank you’ as always to John Shippen.
The catering facilities at St Peter’s are limited to say the least – but we did manage to offer all who attended a bacon sandwich! Cooked off site but kept warm in church. It turned out that we got it just right – even allowing for extra rashers for the vicar, churchwardens, organist and other helpers! We hope the pictures below make your mouth water – and will tempt to join us when it is next out turn.
